STATEN ISLAND COMMUNITY SERVICES
FRIENDSHIP CLUBS, inc.

FUNDED UNDER CONTRACT WITH THE N.Y.C. DEPARTMENT FOR THE AGING AS PART OF THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE NYS OFFICE FOR THE AGING.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all 4 of our locations are currently closed. While our facilities are not operating, our staff are working diligently ensuring all of our registered members are receiving wellness phone calls frequently and providing necessary resources. We are ensuring all of our seniors are receiving meals through the DFTA provided GetFood program. We have our Case Workers available to all of our members during these difficult times. If you are in need of anything please do not hesitate to leave a message at any of our centers for our Program Directors or inform the staff member that is reaching out to you often.  We look forward to the day the pandemic is over and we are reunited in person again. Please stay safe and practice proper social distancing procedures.

We are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit agency with a single mission to provide services to the Seniors of Staten Island. Our goal is to enrich the lives of Seniors by offering programs to keep them healthy and happy with good nutrition, recreation, health education, transportation, and much more!

Our centers are open 8am-4pm   Monday-Friday. Our New Dorp center is in the process of being rebuilt.

Breakfast is served at 8:30am daily. Lunch is served at 12:00pm daily.
All of our meals are cooked fresh on premises. We offer door to door transportation.

Our centers offer seniors the opportunity to socialize and keep their minds strong. Many members express that our centers help keep them young and give them something to look forward to everyday!

Our History
Anne B. McGarvey was one of the first advocates of senior rights on Staten Island. In 1974, she was instrumental in the city’s opening of the Great Kills Friendship Club in our borough and continued to work closely with the Department for the Aging opening six additional Friendship Clubs spread throughout Staten Island. Our current operating facilities that are open are: Great Kills Neighborhood Senior Center, Todt Hill Neighborhood Senior Center, Arrochar Neighborhood Senior Center, and Mount Loretto Neighborhood Senior Center. Our New Dorp Beach Neighborhood Senior Center is expected to reopen by the end of 2019. Anne B. McGarvey’s career spanned 24 years working for our Borough’s seniors, opening Centers which provided nutritious meals, educational programs and recreational activities. Her foresight in the needs of seniors has enriched their lives.

Her legacy will live on for future generations.
