Our History
Anne B. McGarvey was one of the first advocates of senior rights on Staten Island. In 1974, she was instrumental in the city’s opening of the Great Kills Friendship Club in our borough and continued to work closely with the Department for the Aging opening six additional Friendship Clubs spread throughout Staten Island. Our current operating facilities that are open are: Great Kills Older Adult Center, Todt Hill Older Adult Center, Arrochar Older Adult Center, and Mount Loretto Older Adult Center. Our New Dorp Older Adult Center is expected to reopen in 2022. Anne B. McGarvey’s career spanned 24 years working for our Borough’s seniors, opening Centers which provided nutritious meals, educational programs and recreational activities. Her foresight in the needs of seniors has enriched their lives.

Her legacy will live on for future generations.
